I've bounced off of their PC games multiple times, but on my iPad, I've gone through the tutorial game and started playing Bulge without a problem. There's a demo of Mius '43 on PC, but last I checked it did not have a truly small scenario like the demo/tutorial on mobile. Why the PC versions of Tiller games don't do this is beyond me. They make it very easy to learn the game. These free installments have small scenarios (like 10 or so units) that gradually increase in size. However, on the iPad, there are free versions that function as tutorials for each series.

Their PC versions (and the iPad versions, but to a lesser degree) can be micromanagement and high unit-density nightmares. If you have an iPad (not sure if it's available on other devices), I would actually suggest the mobile versions of John Tiller games. I want to push units around hexes across big maps without getting bogged down by analysis paralysis. These games are pretty much exactly my speed.
